Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after spring of 2023.

The win also means he has won twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
